San Mateo, California
BayCon is the San Francisco Bay Area’s longest-running fan-run science fiction and fantasy convention. It takes place over Memorial Day Weekend, at the San Mateo Marriott Hotel. I had the privilege of attending for the first time last year, and when offered the opportunity to return and host some panels of my own, I leaped at the chance! Below is my itinerary of events, but you can find the full con schedule (as well as get your tickets) at the BayCon website.
Hope to see you there!
Stonehenge. Chichén Itzá. Mount Parnassus. Certain places have always held spiritual and magical significance to us. This is a panel discussion about a few of those places, what caused them to be considered sacred, and why we continue to be fascinated by them today.
Saturday, May 25 | 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM | “Magic & Science”
As human beings, we have a deep desire to understand the world around us. Before we had science, there was magic. This panel explores how humans have explained and interacted with the world around us, from magic, to the birth of science… then making our way back to magic.
Zombies horrified and intrigued us long before The Walking Dead. In fact, many cultures have their own take on the zombie legend. This panel takes a look at different zombie lore from around the world. What about zombies terrifies us so much? And what do those fears say about us?
